The research for this project uncovered numerous fascinating historical elements.  Early on, the research took on its own life that has proved equally as memorable as the construction of the model.

This model was completed prior to the advent of digital photography and without publication in mind so the magazine article is relatively brief.  It is presented here in the original form as it appeared in the May 1993 issue of FineScale Modeler magazine.
